2023 Season Projected Revenue and In-kind Contributions

The resources required to provide the many services and support to Science Olympiad coaches and teams, and deliver the season of tournaments totals almost $130,000. More than half of that is provided by Macomb Community College as an in-kind contribution of facilities for tournament day.

The cash portion of our budget is provided primarily by sponsor donations, team registration fees, and other fundraising activities.

2023 Season Projected Expense Budget

Expenses are incurred to deliver the tournaments we host each season, and for awards given to top performing students and teams. Earlier in the season we organize training workshops for students and coaches. Additional expenses are related to equipment and storage, administration costs (including this website), and recruiting new teams.

Each expense is carefully considered for its contribution to our mission of increasing student interest in science.

Volunteers

Possbily the most important resource that enables the successful delivery of tournaments each year is the literally thousands of hours of time donated by hundreds of committed volunteers. If we had included the value of this time in the financial summary, it would be larger than any other category. Our program is run entirely by volunteers and is led by a very dedicated group who individually give hundreds of hours each year.
