South Macomb Tournament

Fraser High School

Rocket Launch Criteria
NASA has launch weather guidelines, and so do we.
At 7pm the night before the tournament, we look at the hourly forecast for the beginning of launch time. Launches will be cancelled if the forecast matches ANY of these criteria:
- Ambient temp will be < 32 degrees
- Wind speed will be > 20 mph
- Real Feel temp < 24 degrees
- > 50% chance of precipitation
At launch time, we may still cancel if:
- There is lightning in the area
- Precipitation is active and will continue
The decision to cancel a launch is not an easy one.
We have learned that it is impossible to conduct a consistent and fair tournament when launching in substandard weather conditions.
We will do our best to provide an alternate launch date.
This tournament is open to all registered teams who are not in
the Chippewa Valley, L'Anse Creuse or Utica school districts.
The final schedule and building map are published as of Feb 25.
Teams which are registered as a Second team with Macomb may compete with full team status. Second teams have their own unique team number assigned by Macomb.
K5, K6 and Second teams compete in the same division, regardless of their division assignment at Macomb.
Students may not be a member of more than one team.
Alternate Team Members
For any given event, each registered team may either add an:
Event Alternate - 1 extra student than the Macomb Science Olympiad rules allow for an event. An event alternate is an addition to the event team and competes with them.
Alternate Event Team - is an extra event team that competes separately from a team's event team. They will be known as the B team.
Medals are awarded to top-placing event winners, including Event Alternate team members.
Alternate Event Teams (B team) is not ranked and is not eligible for medals.
Trophies are awarded to the top-placing teams based on the cumulative event scores for the whole team.
There are Open Events at the tournament for families to enjoy; however, participants do not receive Open Event ribbons.
Parents and Event Coaches are not allowed in closed event rooms during or after competition.
Head Coaches will receive ZipGrade forms and score sheets at the end of the tournament. These should be retained, awaiting release of the respective Category Indexes after the last practice tournament.
